__[The Barcelona Knowledge Hub of Academia Europaea|http://barcelona.acadeuro.org] (AE-BKH) is pleased to announce that the Barcelona Hypatia European Science Prize ceremony and lecture, recognising virologist [Ilaria Capua|Member/Capua_Ilaria], MAE, will take place in the ''Saló de Cent'' of the Barcelona City Council building, at 6:00 p.m. CET on Tuesday, June 1, 2021.__

Prof. Ilaria Capua, Director of the One Health Center of Excellence at the University of Florida (USA), was named winner for her research career conducted at the highest international level, for her leadership in the promotion of open access to genetic information on emerging viruses, and for the social impact that she has made through her contributions to the multidisciplinary concept of “one health,” encompassing human, animal and environmental health. Presided by the Mayor of Barcelona, __Ada Colau__, the ceremony will include an address by __Joan Subirats__, Deputy Mayor for Culture, Education, Science and Community, and also a welcome by __AE President Sierd Cloetingh__, delivered remotely. __Lluís Ferrer__, Chair of the Scientific Advisory Council for the Barcelona Science Plan 2020-2023, will introduce Prof. Capua, who will deliver a lecture entitled, “__Circular health: a new model for the future?__”, in which she will help identify how big data can be harnessed to facilitate a systemic approach to health while improving sustainability.

The Barcelona Hypatia European Science Prize is awarded by the Barcelona City Council in collaboration with the AE-BKH. Part of the Barcelona Science Plan, it seeks to boost the city of Barcelona as a European capital of science and innovation.

The prize, in the amount of 30,000 euros, recognises an outstanding researcher who has conducted her/his career primarily in Europe and at the highest international level, with a strong influence on various fields of knowledge and a positive impact on society.
