Honours and Awards
- 2010 International Award Prof. Luigi Tartufari for Geology from the Accademia dei Lincei (Premio Internazionale Prof. Luigi Tartufari per la Geologia of the Accademia dei Lincei). Award based on scientific merits for Giulio Di Toro’s “innovative approach (and results) relative to the study of earthquake mechanics, based on the integration of field studies, microstructural and geochemical analysis of fault rocks, rock friction experiments under seismic deformation conditions and numerical models”. The prize was awarded on June 24 2010 by the President of the Italian Republic Giorgio Napolitano, and included a check of 12.500 Euro.
- 2008 Arne Richter Award for Outstanding Young Scientists of the European Geosciences Union – Award based on Scientific merits: “For Giulio Di Toro extraordinary contributions in fault and earthquake mechanics”.
- 2008-2013 European Research Council – Starting Grant. PI of the project: Uncovering the Secrets of an Earthquake: Multidisciplinary Study of Physico-Chemical Processes During the Seismic Cycle (acronym USEMS, Project Nr. 205175). The project was within the 12 selected for granting over the 500 submitted in the broad field of Earth Sciences in year 2007. Size EURO 1.992.000.
