European Research and Innovation Days 2020 #

European Research and Innovation Days is the European Commission’s annual flagship Research and Innovation event, bringing together policymakers, researchers, entrepreneurs and the public to debate and shape the future of research and innovation in Europe and beyond. This year, it is a fully virtual event.

Join the open sessions from your computer and participate to a wide range of events online!#

The registration will start early September on the dedicated event website, where you can also find the updated programme of the entire event and information about the panellists.

Scientific Advice to policy during the COVID 19 crisis and beyond will be discussed in the session:

Scientific advice to inform policymaking, balancing speed with certainty on emerging policy challenges.#

on 23 September starting at 16:00 CEST#

On the basis of the recent joint statement and learning from their practical experience our high-level panellists will exchange views on how scientific advice can best be given to policy makers in times of uncertainty, especially when a situation is evolving rapidly, risks can be great, and knowledge is limited.

The session will address the importance of interdisciplinary policy advice in the face of a pandemic that poses a multitude of interrelated challenges, including its complex social and economic consequences, which make societal and ethical considerations an important part of policy advice.

Feel free to submit your question or suggestion to the panellists in advance here and help us addressing your expectations and concerns.

Your input will be relevant for this session but it will also help us shaping future possible initiatives.
